Miller Theater Highlighted in 2013 Congressional Art Competition
WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman John Barrow (GA-12) announced the winner of the 2013 Congressional Art Competition for the 12th District, Lillian Joan Brisson from Greenbrier High School. Lillian’s entry, “Let the Countdown Begin,” is an image of a strip of film in the projection room at the historic Miller Theater in Augusta.
“The Miller Theater is a landmark in the 12th District,” said Congressman Barrow. “Lillian did a fantastic job capturing a small piece of history in the structure that means so much to folks back home. I’m looking forward to welcoming her to Washington when her artwork begins its year-long display in the U.S. Capitol.”
Each year, the Congressional Institute hosts a nationwide competition that invites high school students in each congressional district to submit projects to their representatives for selection by a local panel of artists. The winning entry from each Congressional district will hang in the Cannon Tunnel on the U.S. Capitol grounds for one year.
