Barrow Statement on Tax Cut Extension PDF Print

August 1, 2012

U.S. Congressman John Barrow (GA-12) today voted to extend the Bush era tax cuts for one year, through 2013. The current extension is set to expire on December 31, 2012. Following the vote, Congressman Barrow issued the following statement.

Congressman Barrow said:

“Raising taxes on anyone at a time when our economy is already fragile would be irresponsible and would only prolong our recovery. Folks know the federal government is full of wasteful spending.  To get folks in Georgia back to work and our finances in order, we have to eliminate Washington’s reckless spending and begin a serious discussion about tax reform.  It’s time for Republicans and Democrats to come together to solve this country’s financial problems, without placing an added burden on the American people.”
