Barrow Introduces Legislation to Spur American Manufacturing and Increase American Jobs PDF Print

After spending several weeks focusing on job creation and visiting manufacturing facilities throughout Georgia’s 12th Congressional District, Congressman John Barrow (GA-12) recently introduced legislation to spur American manufacturing and increase American jobs.

“I’ve seen businesses all over Georgia get back to hiring folks, but lots of small business owners still can't afford to expand enough to meet growing demand,” said Congressman Barrow (GA-12). “This bill will make it less expensive to grow their businesses by offering tax credits to employers who expand payrolls and hire new workers. I’ve seen manufacturers start importing jobs back to Georgia, because American workers are better trained, more skilled, and more productive than foreign workers. This legislation simply makes it less expensive for local businesses to hire those trained, skilled, and productive American workers.”

The legislation, H.R. 4167, the Tax Credits for Jobs Now Act, would give tax credits to employers who hire new employees. The Tax Credits for Jobs Now Act would provide a business with a tax credit of 60% of the salary for new hires in the year 2012 and 40% in the year 2013.
