Washington, DC -- Augusta Congressman John Barrow (Georgia - 12th District) today announced that Daniel Field airport has been awarded a $300,000 grant by the Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). According to the FAA, the money will be used to enhance safety and security at the airport though the construction of new perimeter fencing around the airport. In addition, the grant will help pay for the rehabilitation of existing airfield lighting and the installation of aircraft guidance signs on the airfield. "This new funding is welcome news for Daniel Field and for the entire Augusta area," Barrow said. "As the area continues to grow, it's important that the local transportation infrastructure is able to handle any increase in demand. What's more, this money will go a long way in helping improve the overall safety and security at the airport." Located close to many of Augusta's medical facilities, Barrow also pointed out the valuable role Daniel Field plays in providing fast and convenient access for air ambulance and medical transport aircraft. ### Contact: Harper Lawson, (202) 225-2823
